Instruction for Authors

 

Thank you for considering JRHS to submit your manuscript. Please, review the instruction and follow the guidelines as close as possible for the fast reviewing process.

 

Manuscript Types

 

General Layout

  • Word limit: Strongly recommend to less than 4,000 words excluding abstract and references. (tables and figures are counted as 100 words each)

  • Word Processing: Microsoft Word (docx, doc, and pdf format)

  • Paper format: Letter size

  • Margin: 1 inch all around

  • Paper format: Letter size 

  • Add line numbers

  • Headings: Times New Roman, bold 10, align left

  • Content: Times New Roman, regular 10

  • Space: single space after a period.

    • First-line indentation: 0.25 inch

    • Double return after headings

  • Table: Tables should be on the proper position in the manuscript and the title of each table should be directly above the table. Use Arabic numbers such as Table 1, Table 2, etc.

  • Figure:  High-quality figures should be on the proper position in the manuscript and the title of each figure should be directly below the figure. Use Arabic numbers such as Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.

JRHS follows the APA style. When APA and the below recommendations are not aligned, follow the JRHS style as shown below.

 

Cite in-text references​

  • one author: (last name, year)

  • two authors: (first author last name and second author last name, year) 

  • three or more authors: (first author last name et al., year)

  • John Doe (year) showed that

  • Short direct quotation

    • According to John (year), “short direct quotation” (page in the format of p. #)

    • “short direct quotation” (Author, year, page in the format of p. #)

    • When the reference does not contain pages, do not include the page number.

    • Long quotation (more than 40 words or a free-standing block)

      • ½ inch indentation from the left margin.

      • Justified alignment.

      • Need a signal phrase with citation right before the quotation and add page number in the format of (p. #)

      • When the reference does not have a page, do not include the page number.​
